12th July 2006 - Cllr Anna Mbachu and Cllr Chris Robbins had a ward walk with the Executive Director for Environmental Services Martin Esom.
We showed Mr Esom the poor condition of the flower beds on street corners of St Mary's, Leyton Park, St Georges, Beaconsfield and Salisbury Roads.
Mr Esom was also told about dumped rubbish which causes eyesore especially when broken into by foxes. The state of Lindley and Francis Road which is in bad need of re-surfacing was also discussed. During the walk, an ABV in Warren Road was spotted and instantly dealt with by the Director. Other issues such as broken bollards, litters in rd, dumped rubbish were picked up as we walked through the ward and Mr Esom took on board our concern and promised to:-
- Tidy up the flower beds by removing the rubbish and planting new plants.
- Repair the brickwork where its broken around the brick of the flower bed.
- Will ensure that the flower beds receive regular attention from the street cleaners.
- See to it that the street sweepers actually do a good job by ensuring that their job is monitored.
- Clear dumped rubbish as soon as possible
- Install CCTV and signs to warn people of the penalties for dumping
- Make durable bollards so that they are not easily damaged by large lorries
We will be monitoring the situation closely to see that these promises are carried out. We will also be talking to you residents encouraging you to report any person who dump rubbish as they will be dealt with by the council in conjunction with our Safer Neighbourhood Police Team.
If you have any issue or comments please contact any of us your councillor.
